Tuft & Needle Mattress Review

Tuft & Needle is an unbelievably popular mattress. The company was founded in 2012 and today more than 1,000,000 people use their mattresses.

What makes it so popular? The company invests in research, keeps getting feedbacks from customers its mattress and improving it. In addition, you get 100 days to ask for a refund if you buy the mattress from the official website.

Let’s take a closer look at the mattress.

What’s so Special About Tuft & Needle?

Tuft-Needle MattressIts story. Tuft & Needle was founded by 2 engineers from Silicon Valley. They were not satisfied with the existing mattresses. Most mattresses had super high mark-ups and were sold in the shops. Lots of these mattresses were not great. So the founders of the company (Daehee Park and JT Marino) decided to create an absolutely new product.

Tuft & Needle became an online company that sets smaller mark-ups and offers mattresses made of absolutely new materials.

Tuft & Needle Materials

Tuft & Needle assembled a team of chemistries to develop own exclusive material – Adaptive® Foam. Besides that Tuft & Needle mattress contains Cooling Gel & Graphite to keep you cool during night’s sleep.

T&N Adaptive® Foam

T&N Adaptive® Foam was created to combines the best of two materials: latex and memory foam.

Memory foam is famous for its pressure relief and comfort. It perfectly molds to your body. Cons? It can trap heat and be slow in response.

Latex on the other side is a bouncy material that helps you keep cool but it provides worse pressure relief.

T&N Adaptive® Foam combines the qualities of both materials. It conforms to your body and bounces quickly without leaving a trace.

Its open-cell structure allows air to move inside the mattress and distribute heat. When heat is distributed it’s easy for the mattress to cool down. For you, it means that you will sweat less and have a better sleep.

Cooling Gel & Graphite

Cooling Gel is a popular compound. It’s frequently used in the memory foam mattresses to reduce heat.

Graphite is another component used to transfer heat away from your body and provide you with a comfortable night’s sleep.

Mattress Structure

The mattress is 10″ thick. Heavy sleepers will feel more comfortable on a thicker mattress. But Tuft and Needle will do its job for people up to 500lbs each which makes 1000lbs in total for a mattress.

Tuft and Needle mattress consists of two layers:

3″ Adaptive® Foam

7″  Support Poly Foam

The first layer is a comfort layer. The layer you actually have to feel with your body. If you are overweight you may sink deeper and you may not like that feeling. Because the lower layer of foam exists only to support the comfort layer.

The Firmness of the Tuft & Needle Mattress

Tuft & Needle is a medium-firm mattress. Its firmness is 6.5 on a scale of 1 to 10. But it can feel a little bit firmer. Tuft & Needle mattress should be good for stomach and back sleepers.

People who like soft mattresses will probably not like Original Tuft and Needle mattress.

We recommend people to pick a mattress with the right firmness. But at the time this article was written Tuft & Needle was ready to assist buyers (at the time this review was written) by sending a free topper to satisfy clients or offer a full refund.

Edge Support

You will not be impressed with the edge support of Tuft & Needle. Most all-foam mattresses have bad edge support and Tuft & Needle is one of them. When you are close to the edge you may feel a little bit like you can roll off the mattress.
